This may sound odd but GCSC helped me get back to what I was doing before I lost my job. I was the controller for a prominent restaurant company in the Detroit-Metro area until July of 2009 when its local branch was closed down. I then spent many long months doing the standard unemployed route of career builder, monster, ihospitality, etc. I applied to hundreds of jobs to no avail. Arthur was referred to me by an associate, and after a phone consultation with Arthur I agreed to hire him for a resume rewrite, new cover letters, and a career counselling seminar.
While the resume rewrite and cover letters were definitely necessary, it was the counseling that really made the difference. His advice on networking, working around hiring managers, methods of researching companies, and varied other strategies helped me land several jobs quite quickly. After a few false starts, eventually I realized how happy I had been at my previous employment and used all the tools Arthur gave me to make sure that the moment a position opened back up, I was the guy they wanted to fill it with. It took me about 2 months of using his strategies, but I am now relocated to Connecticut where I am once again the Food & Beverage Controller for a restaurant company and quite happy doing it.
